We talked to L. Norovoo, the mother of talented actress T. Bilegjargal, who has attracted the love of the public with her created character, bright face, and deep gaze. He passed away suddenly in 2022, and it was an irreparable loss not only to the Mongolian film industry, but also to his loving mother and family. Even now, the characters and humanity created by him are still in the hearts and minds of Mongolians. After graduating from SUIS in 2004, he started his creative career in commercials, music videos, films, and other types of screen art. He played the main and supporting roles in more than 30 feature films, such as “Ussa”, “French Kiss”, and “Such a Love”.
– MY SON WAS A NICE YOUNG MAN WHO ATTRACTED THE LOVE OF OTHERS AND SHADE LIGHT-
– What character are you proud of in your son? How did the son tell you about becoming an actor?
– I am always proud of my son’s compassion, kindness and helpfulness. Every day, I hear good memories about my son from others. For example, “When I met your son there, he bought me such food, and then he bought me ice cream. People always remember my son in a bright light. He said that even when my son was in another place, he even gave food to a poor person. The fact that he always made his older and younger siblings happy and respected showed how kind of a person he was. Sometimes he comes to my work and says, “Mom, give your shoes to that person.” His shoes are old.” So, I think that my son imitated my generosity, compassion and gentleness.
And because he was a good-hearted boy, he must have been captured by others.
My son graduated from the 24th school of the capital. From the ninth grade, he liked to listen to songs and music, and became interested in singing and dancing. Before I could ask my son about his profession, one day he came in and said, “Mom, I want to be an actor.” At that time, I willingly accepted my son’s wishes and dreams and encouraged him to enter the university. Then, in 2004, he became a student of director S. Sugar, an honored artist. My son started working as an actor not long after entering the university. In the old days, films were made with the permission and plans of the state. Since the beginning of 2000, young people based on “Tengis” cinema started making commercial films. In the first film, my son was selected with his classmates S. Temujin, G. Altanshagai, and B. Bayarmaa, and he was making his first commercial film. My son was always portrayed as the son of a rich family and a handsome young man, which clearly indicated what a stylish young man he was. That’s why he always played the role of a bright, heroic, beautiful and romantic young man. Those roles were well suited to him. For example, I would like to highlight his roles in the films “City of Fraud”, “French Kiss”, “Descent”, and “Last Night”. For example, B. Dashdavaa and Z. Zharantav from the movie “Khuku gerlem dekhle” who are older theater actors, were nice guys. Girls used to go to the theater to see them. Men used to go to the theater to see beautiful girls like N. Suvd and B. Tserenpagma. Just like them, my son was a bright and shining “star” in the field of cinematography. Readers may know that my son defended his thesis in his final year of university with the actor and singer G. Ankhmaatai on “Romeo and Juliet” by U. Shakespeare.
– What was his son’s talent when he was young? Is there anyone in your family who is talented in art?
– When I was young, my son was one of the gifted children who read poems, sang, danced, played drums, was good at arranging and managing others. But my daughter is calm and thoughtful. There was no artistic talent in my family. But there were artistic people who made beautiful clothes. My father was one of the intellectuals of that time. When I was a 10-year-old school student, I was a child who danced, sang and read poems like my son. Then she graduated from the Mongolian State University with a degree in engineering and economics and became the first female stock exchange teller. He worked in the stock exchange for six years and worked as an engineer.
– How did you nurture and educate your son?
– We pampered each other a lot. We went to India, Bangkok, China, Beijing, and Korea to relax and have fun together. My son loves to travel, so we always went together. My son is interested in cars, so I bought him every latest model of car. Being a mother, there was a time when she spoke and made people understand like others.
– Did the son achieve his dream? What was his artistic dream?
– My son dreamed of becoming a Hollywood star. They used to say, “Take all the footage of your movie, make a movie with foreigners, and become a Hollywood actor.” Moreover, my son was very old, so I think he completed the work he had to do in Mongolia in a short time. He was one of the top 10 guys in Mongolia. When my son is a student, I worry about him being late. And when I went to school with my father, I was just preparing for the performance. He is such an affectionate but diligent boy. It’s nice to think back on the memories I spent with them.
– How did you feel when you saw your son on stage for the first time? You were even happy to see him training, right?
– When he saw his son on stage, he was interested in how he was performing, whether he had acting talent or not. The professional teachers definitely brought up my son and discovered his acting talent. He was very sensitive, devoted to his profession and loved to tell the stories of the films he had seen. Because of his short age, it seems that he was in a hurry to create and complete his art.
– What was the profession of your son’s father? What behavior and quality did the son imitate his father?
– My son’s father was a nice soldier. Even though he imitated his father’s clean and neat qualities, he was a very elegant boy who dressed well and smiled beautifully. I still keep my son’s clothes. It is ridiculous that he has shelter to go to the countryside with his son. There’s no way he can’t know. My son’s eyes and face shone from the background, he was a beautiful young man who attracted the love of others and radiated light. I think my son was oppressed along with his family. Because my son’s life was not demanded from anyone, there is no victim, but there is no perpetrator who harmed my son. However, I regret that the people who were with me at that time did not help my son, and I feel sad that my son has become a target of jealousy and a victim of society. He wanted to apply to live in America, but was unable to because of the coronavirus. I never felt bad for my son. I have a beautiful 10-year-old daughter who is an extension of my son, so sometimes I feel relieved.
– I think that my son’s paintings and works of art can ease my longing. But thought you were one of the strongest moms?
– When my son came to the dream later, he gave me the keys to the car and a visa to go to America. Soon, my work was fast-paced and I was traveling around America with my children, driving a Benz. There is no day or night when I don’t think of my son. To this day, I miss my son and cry until my eyelashes fall out. My eyelashes fall off when I cry a lot. How can a person who has lost a son not suffer? But I don’t want to tell anyone about my suffering. I look at my son’s works and admire and feel proud of his talent.
– Did your friend make a song called “Peace” in memory of your son?
– My son’s friends, actors B. Altantsooj and N. Gankhuleg, for T. Bilgoon, T. Ganbayar and my son,
“Swan drops from the white cloud as rain
Shine with the golden sun
Live with a smile in my photo album
Stay with me in my memory song
It’s been a hundred years, but you’re still forever on the screen
He created a song called “Always like summer, you remain young forever”. I am happy for the young people who have immortalized my son with their art.
