As the cold gets stronger, you may face problems such as wind blowing through your windows and windows cracking. The reader brings you methods of insulating and windproofing vacuum windows.
1. Lubricate your window hinges It is recommended to lubricate your vacuum window hinges once a season.
It prolongs the life of the window and prevents it from jamming and deterioration. It is convenient to use sewing machine oil to lubricate the hinge. Add a few drops of oil and close and open the window to distribute the oil evenly.
2. Adjust the lock. When you open the door and window, there is a metal sign on the side. It will have two modes: summer and winter, and if it is switched to summer mode, the wind will come in between. So check this icon and set it to winter mode.
If you don’t know if your window is in winter or summer mode, you can use paper. Try putting thin paper between your windows.
If the paper goes straight in, it assumes it’s in summer mode and turns the latch in the opposite direction. But if there is no space for anything, thin paper or air to enter, consider that it is in winter mode.
3. Turn the lock with the designated key. Each window has a different lock. A quality vacuum window lock will never lose heat when properly adjusted. Turn the lock with a special key and press it to the right.
But some window locks can be turned manually without the need of a key. The difference between the winter and summer closures is about 1 mm, and the lock shape may vary, but the thicker side faces inward and the winter closures are tighter.
